Members Shaner Posted July 10, 2008 Author Members Posted July 10, 2008 Shane, I haven't been up there but... a couple of weeks ago a guy I know who is a very credible source (and who fishes up there all of the time) told me that a couple of weeks back he was catching alot of fish (and nice ones) on jigs in the willows. You aren't Shane Long are you? Just asking because I went to high school with him, but haven't talked to him since high school. Good luck in the tourney! Whack'em Thanks for the Info Whack'emGood!!! I'm from Wichita Ks and just moved to Ozark this past January. I've Heard that same info about the Willows on Points. Was your friend in the back of coves or on the main lake in the willows? Thanks
Members Shaner Posted July 10, 2008 Author Members Posted July 10, 2008 Where can I find the water discharge or generation schedule for Truman? Thanks for all the helpful info! Shane
Whack'emGood Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Shane-- My friend said the best bite was in the willows on main lake points and pockets. Welcome to Ozark- its a great place to live. You're welcome for the info. Good luck in the tourney!! "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)

Gone Fishing Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Shaner, fished the heartland a few weeks ago and like every one else flipped big worms and jigs to the brush but also had our best fish on spinnerbaits. Don't forget the square bills. Good luck.
Troy Gregg Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Shaner, in the heartland tourney, I caught a couple of shorts on a Luckycraft D-20 off of a main lake point. I also caught a short and one that went 2.83 on a black blue jig w/ a blue trailer, in the willows fishing pockets and main lake points. Look for the dead willows as it seemed more fish were hiding in them. The water clarity I believe will play a major role in where the fish are hiding, if its clear I would look 5-8' through the willows and 8-15' on points. if its muddy, 8' or less on everything even moving up to a foot of water. As far as the buzzbait and spinnerbait bite, I know it was there, but it just wasn't happening for me. Good luck Troy Gregg
