Seth Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I've been trying to find a truck to have fun with on the weekends and to take on hunting/fishing trips. This truck would be fun to have I think. Is it worth it or should I offer the guy less? KBB says it's worth around 6000 in good shape. Here's the link. 1996 GMC Extended Cab Truck

Here's the link. 1996 GMC Extended Cab Truck Is the lift a suspension or body lift? (suspension is better IMO) Have you been able to run a carfax on it? I have problems with military vehicles having branded titles from being overseas, and other misc. problems... I would say it's a good deal if it's what you need.. The fuel economy will be squat, but if you are wanting a lifted truck I say go for it.. But drive it first and have it checked over by an independant mechanic... And it never hurts to make an offer, but don't make it too low or you will be countered back.... Hope this advice helps... cricket.c21.com
Seth Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks for the advice. It has a 4" suspension lift and a 2" body lift for a total of 6" of lift. I haven't checked out the carfax yet, but plan on it as well as having my mechanic friend go take a look at it with me. I have a 2005 Ranger that gets 27-29 mpg on average for my daily driver. This is just something I've been wanting so I have a hunting rig and can haul the boat easier. It's probably not going to be driven all that much other than for those purposes and just playing around on the weekends. What do you think would be a good counter offer on this rig? One guy told me $4000, but KBB says it's worth a little over 6000 in good condition.
flyfshn Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Seth, always start low. The market is somewhat soft for Trucks/SUV's. As CC suggested, check it out on carfax, drive it and have someone check it out. I would probably start at $3500.....remember, KBB is not going to necessarily reflect the soft market right now.
