creek wader Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 But when they're in a privately stocked pond where it's a fish on almost every cast, I really have no problem doing it. Besides, what is the difference from throwing a chunk of stinkbait like most catfishermen do. Also, convincing a fish that bases most of its feeding on scent alone, making them eat a ball of fur isn't as easy as it sounds. No offense taken though, I know this isn't exactly purist dry-fly fishing zsmith62 .. You don't need to defend yourself. It's on par with globalls at one of the trout parks. Plus, you usually are unable to site fish like in one of the trout parks. And the fish aren't hatchery fish, stocked daily. .. I'll probably get some feedback on that note. wader
drew03cmc Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 zsmith, I was just messing with you. It is cool, I think of it like having carp sucking down cottonwood seeds and you target them with a white wulff and have fun! Andy
Members flyfisheranonymous Posted August 4, 2008 Author Members Posted August 4, 2008 Well creek you do what you can to catch fish. This is another buddy of mine with his first fish and first Cat on the fly. Wish I would have caught it.
Members flyfisheranonymous Posted September 2, 2008 Author Members Posted September 2, 2008 Here is a picture of a blue cat that I caught on a bunny leech yesterday. Got out with my son this a.m. and we had a blast. We fished a small tributary of the Red and hooked into some nice Cats for this size of water. The width of the river this time of year is only 50 ft. so you have to find the holes. My son, Kevin, landed 4 Cats while I only managed one. Caught Crappie, Sauger and Carp as well. All fish were caught on a 6 wt. (Primarily used for the Crappie) Won't tell you what else my son caught but he caught an awful lot of fish. Makes me not want to take him out anymore.
