Another question for you guys. If I was planning a holiday down in your neck of the woods where would you say the best fishing was for trout and the best spot for warm water species.

Wow, this will start an arguement. "Best" as in numbers, easy access, or big fish? Branson area is good, (Taneycomo for trout, Kings and James for Smallmouth.) Mountain Home, Arkansas is also a good base for flyfishing, Crooked Creek and Buffalo for smallies, the entire White and Norfolk for trout) but probably not on the families chart for "holiday" fun. Unless they're fishing, too.

Best depends on what you want to do..

Tailwater Trout..The White and Norfork Tailwaters near Mountain Home, Arkansas. Big numbers, and big fish are always possible. Hire a guide.

Wade Fishing for Trout OYO-Current River below Montauk State Park and the wild trout creeks. Mill, Blue Spring, Spring, and Crane.

Float Fishing for Trout OYO-Eleven Point River near Alton, MO, North Fork of the White River near Dora, MO

Scenic Floats..The Buffalo River in Arkansas, The Upper Jack's Fork in MO..the smallmouth fishing can be good too.

Lake Fishing-I havent a clue.

Basically, if you go down the list of forum sections on here, you will find good fly fishing in about every stream noted. I don't think there are any "bad" streams in the Ozark region. At least I haven't found one yet...

It depends on what time of year you want to come down. Spring, you can get into wipers on most any large lake that contains these sterile voracious feeders, smallies on streams in the fall, catfish in the summer on rivers, browns below Bull Shoals Dam in the fall also.

I would suggest doing a tour of the Ozark trout/smallmouth streams. Maybe starting from the north hit the upper Current south of Salem for wading in for trout. Head down 19 for the Jacks Fork upstream from Eminence for smallies. Head down 19 to Alton to hit the 11 point for trout and maybe the upper river for smallies. Then go down to the White for trout in the Mountain Home area for trout. Remember to clean your boots and waders before heading to your next stream (didymo). From there travel north east to Branson and Tanycomo. Then had east to the North Fork of the White near Dora, Mo for Trout. That trip would give you a great taste of Ozark fly fishing.

Buffalo City Arkansas, at the confluence of the White and Buffalo Rivers. Buffalo Shoals section on the White for trout. Lower section of The Buffalo holds big smallmouth and huge largemouth. Also tons of smallmouth on the White river in this area.

For my money (and I've spent a bunch of it there) no better diversity and quality of fishing than Buffalo City.

This is awesome. I would like to narrow it down some. I know there will be a lot of opinions but please give them. Ok here goes.

Best water for Wipers. I remember reading about these fish and how aggressive they are. I would love to catch one.

Best LM Bass water. We only have one small lake stocked with these fish and the largest I've landed so far is 22 inches. Would like to try to get something bigger.

Last I want to catch a big horkin' Brown where would I go.

The White River below Bull Shoals Dam in Arkansas just after the spawn. That stretch of the river closes in November and opens back up Feb 1.
