I took a Hummingbird and a minkota trolling motor off my big boat and put it on my 14" aluminum flatbottom. When I try to troll, it wipes everytyhing off the screen. If I take the trolling motor out of the water, and run the motor it doesn't affect it at all. What could be causing this? Thanks

The trolling motor probably needs some work.

the trolling motor and the transducer are probably too close together. my997c has to have 15 inches from any motor.

The motor and fish finder worked fine on my other boat { But it was fibreglass} The motor and transducer are on opposite ends of the boat. any other suggestions? Thanks

Sounds to me like you might not have the transducer mounted properly on the back of the boat (I assume that's where you have it). If it is not positioned right there will be turbulance when the boat is moving causing a bad signal. The transducer needs to be mounted very slightly below the water line and slightly to the side of dead center. At least that is what my depthfinder manual says.

You might try re-positioning the transducer. Just a thought

are they hooked up to the same battery? If so there is either a voltage drop or other interference.

I have solved the problem. When I was trolling, I touched my fillet knife to the negative side of the battery and the boat and all the interference went away. So I ran a wire from the battery to the boat.

No more interference. Heh Heh
