Approx 13 lbs.

Length x Girth² ÷ 800

(length x girth x girth ÷ 800)

and Pokem is right on.

Thanks Dano. I'll write it down and won't have to try and remember what it was. See you on the water....Perch

Perchjerker,

That's a really nice brown. Congrats! Did you get him on a fly?

There are some variations on it.

they are always girth X girth X length. but depending on the water and the fish 680 -720 or 800 is the dividing number..

hey perch,

a quick formula that I have heard over the years is 3lbs for the 1st 19 inches and 1lb per inch after that. That is a good healthy fish. if he is fat he might be a bit heavier and if he is skinny a bit less but it is easier than trying to take time to measure girth and setting on the bank for 10 minutes trying to remember the formula and calculating it in your head. That formula would make your fish 13.25lbs

Nice fish by the way.

Hey Laker, I did catch him on a Mylar Fly but it was on rod and reel on Lake Michigan out of Algoma Wis. No way would it compare with catching one that size out of Taney , but a great fish none the less. We had 4 of them over 10 lbs. that day.Two years ago I caught a 17 lbs. Rainbow up there. keep your line wet as much as you can..Perch.

Wow!

You have caught some really nice fish up there. I bet you hated to leave.

Each species is different, I found a fish weight calculator on the web somewhere last summer after catching my first and last 10lb (estimate according to measurements) largemouth. If I can find it again I will post the link, pretty cool device for catch and releasers.
