Members vandelay Posted August 8, 2008 Members Posted August 8, 2008 Has anyone been on the 11 point lately? If so, how's fishing? Is the river still running high or has it calmed down no that it is later in the summer? I'm planning on being down next weekend.
Brian Sloss Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 It is in good shape, will give a full report first of the week. Guiding Sunday. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Members flyfisherman Posted August 9, 2008 Members Posted August 9, 2008 I fished the trophy area with a good friend yesterday and the only word to describe the fishing was "Epic" We caught fish everywhere we stoped. The river looked great and we saw only 4 other canoes on the river and Ryan of 11 Point canoe was in the McKenzie boat. The usual places fished well, between island 1 and 2, at island 4 my freind hook and released a 4 pounder with witnesses. Little Huricanne shoal fished the best. Stipping olive green wolly buggers with sinking tip worked well and Don's crawdad fished deep. We were using 2 triple AAA to get the flys deep. The river is a but high but clear and very clean, I will be back on the 19th with a customer. I would check with either Brian and Ryan, that know the river well and can give you great advise, and the are good freinds to us fly fisherman
2sheds Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 One more echo for very good fishing on the 11 Point. Talk to Ryan & Brian at Eleven Point Canoe Rental in Alton for the latest, but we did well flyfishing stoneflys & don's crawdad, and on spining tackle with 1/4 oz spinners. Just be sure to get 'er deep.
