loo10
As outspoken as I have been about tournaments, I would participate in a C&R tourney under certain conditions. The FlyMasters format is especially intriguing. I like fly fishing from my boat so for my 2 cents.... I'd prefer a boat or wade tourney. Micheal Kyle
If I get enough intrest I will put one on, if any of you know and have been to any of the events that I have put on here at the shop you know that it will not be done half assed. I would have a preregister, and if you wanted to regester at the ramp it would cost you more. I would like to see about 15 teams step up to the plate and say they are in. If people would not mind I would fish it myself, but I have fished several tournaments where the person that put it on fishes the thing and it has caused some people to get upset. I will say this, that with the new baby and the events that are going to take place at my shop in the near future it would be June befor I would have time to put it on. loo10
Michael, When this thing starts to gain footing, I'd like to be involved. I don't care if you participate... You just can't win! loo10 Rich Looten Springfield, Missouri "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong."- John Gierach
mizzouflyfisher
I would definitely be interested in this sort of tournament. I have never fished in a trout tourney because of the rules regarding up or down and difficulty catching fish outside the slot if you are fishing up, then if you catch nice fish you have to keep them. More than anything I just want to meet some more people and improve my skills. The only person I ever fish with is my dad or myself (not that he's a bad guy to fish with, he's great). I would just like to expand my horizons. Are we still talking about a 1 fly, or just catch and release in general. Also, if we are talking 1 fly, can we make it a 2 fly tournament, 1 for no generation, and 1 for generation. I think with the forum, spreading news of a tournament would create interest, but the hard part might be getting judges. Also, I am all for a deposit requirement. Make people put there money where there mouth is Keep us updated. Mizzouflyfisher
Kansas Fly Fisher
I would be interested in either format of tourney. The only thing holding me back would be my work schedule (1 day on / 2 days off). Micheal Kyle
I'm not sure how the one fly has been done but the one I have fished before in other location is where you get one fly if you loose the fly your done. I could be wrong if that is the way Phil has done it. I think that we are going to get a lot of interest so I think that we will have one. I will say this that it will take a lot of time and people to make sure that it goes right. I don't know if I could win against you guys or not sounds like you are on the water all the time. With the shop and the new baby I have no time to fish. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Brian K. Shaffer
Why Taneycomo though ? Why not a Wednesday tournament at Roaring River - where the impact on the fish would be negated by the amount of catch and kill anglers ? Because no matter how hard anybody will try, there will be a mortality rate from this event. Perhaps I just wish to protect my home waters. I understand where you guys are coming from though / what with wanting another tournament and all. But how are you gonna stop non-registered people from walking uninvited into a " zoned " event area and not fishing it ? just my 02. Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now. Bennett might be the better choice with more fishable water (at least that's my belief.) John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 10, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted March 10, 2006 As you may have noticed... I've been silent on the subject of hosting or co-hosting another tournament. I'm hesitant to commit to it just now. I have a lot of irons in the fire presently and don't wish to add another. I may do something in the fall.
