loo10
Went down after work to get in a few hours before tomorrow's big draw-down. BEAUTIFUL evening. My wife Kathy went along for the ride. I fished while she read a book. It was nice to have the company. Fog wasn't too awful bad and there weren't many others on the water; only 2 other boats including mine. One of the boats was Phil's. I believe he and Leonard were fishing jigs. I think they were doing ok....I'll let them give their 2 cents if they want to. Motored my Lund up to the cable. Saw several fly-fishermen with fish on. Quite a few fishing at Outlet One including a guy from Minnesota who pulled in and had beached his boat there. I bet the locals loved that. Ha.....I guess it takes all kinds. Long story short. Caught about 10. 1 brown, the rest rainbows in about 2 hours or so. Very colorful fish...lots of deep pink along their sides. Biggest was a 17 incher pictured below. Started with a gold cleo. Caught maybe 4 including my only brown. Switched to a brown trout rapala & did better. Released them all. Had pizza at Luigi's in Branson before heading home. Very good!!! Summary....a wonderful evening catching some of the most beautiful creatures God ever created. Leonard
Rich.. I think we did ok.. we made 3 good drifts and a short.. I believe phil and I caught fish on every drift... I was using an olive jig... started with a PMS and changed over to a meat whistle (tied on a 1/8 jig head)... should have done that back in april.. MAN did the like that thing!! Id say we each caught 3-4 on each drift.. It was a blast.. Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com

Greg
Loo I was up near outlet one from about 5 to 8 PM. Saw several boats go by I'm sure one of them was you? My fishing for those 3 hours was OK although not the type I prefer. I couldn't get much action except right near outlet 1. Usually on high water I can do fairly well above or below outlet 1 or 2 but not last evening. Outlet fishing is just not my preference. But that said I did take several very nice rainbows and browns right at outlet one. My first fish was a brown that was right at 21". Every single fish I took (maybe 10 total) was brightly colored and fought very hard. I was using a 2 fly rig most of the time and the hits were pretty even between a Y2K, zebra midge, and a scud. I was there when those guys in the boat motored in and beached their boat. They didn't disturb me much but they literally came in right on top of a woman that was fishing there and more or less appropriated her spot. She just moved on. I'm not sure I would have been that gracious. A good evening overall but I'm sure looking forward to the water going down. Hopefully soon!!!??? Micheal Kyle
I have had pretty good results with the Meat Whistle I got a couple sample flies 2 years ago from Cary Marcus, my old sage rep who is also the Umpqua rep. I have the best luck with the Olive. They are a very effective pat. for big Browns in the fall. I really fish it more on the White River though. Mr. Barr is a genius and his books are awesome very well illustrated and with the step by step patterns. If you don't have one you should get one. Good Find Leonard! Next time you see me....give a wave. Although if water levels drop, I'll be a bit farther downstream or alongside you in waders.
