steveearle
I am heading down Tuesday foir 1 day of fishing and was wondering if the rain and stabilizing water has affected the depths on the football jig and drop-shot bite. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Members fastbakjigs
Hey, Steve,...I went down Friday.. up in the the James had some luck on the football jigs. Caught 17 only 3 keepers tho.. the keepers were good fish 16..17 inches and fat as cow!! We had lots of clouds but very little wind early...Didn't catch a fish till 10 am. I think that's when wind got up a little. If you stay on the deep banks and have some wind coming in on them you'll be okay. All my fish came in 15 to 20 feet on a 3/4 oz Football jig green, rusty craw, and brown and a Rage Tail Craw. My son caught his all on a Zoom Lizard and he also caught all the small ones too.. I think the bigger bait was the key (can't tell him that tho!!..) I'm going back today so I'll report back tonight.. Don't look good tho..looks like lots of sun and no wind !!! oh well, beats going to work
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted August 18, 2008 Fishing Buddy Share Posted August 18, 2008 Steve, 15 -25 foot early morning jig bite is still there till about 9:00am then move over to drop shot.. Fish are moving out deep and starting to suspend really good.. Start looking for larger groups of fish on Bluff ends and deeper points.. Been out there for the last week and have had fish everyday all day, you just have to look around for them.. Buy some Crawlers also gets tuff in the afternoon.. Good Fishing Capt. Don Capt. redbud
We launched out of Shell Knob early Sat. morning caught a few on carolina rigged power worms 15-25 feet before 1st light. noticed a lot of topwater action , no joy. Saw some fish blowing up near shore . I know alot of guys on this board disagree but there are still good fish up in the brush. Hooked up with several fish on a white war eagle 1/2 oz double willow. After the sun came out, went old school and dropped the jig and pig on em. Look for wood and brush near steep banks near deeper water. The bite slows considerably by 10am we were home by lunch. Fished main lake about half way between Big M and the mouth of the Kings. Here are a couple of pics of our best two, both just shy of 5lbs. Good luck and fish EARLY.This has been the best summer on Table Rock I can remember. You should hook up the fish are biting well.
Whack'emGood
Thanks for the reports guys. Nice fish Redbud- those are a couple of dandies. Way to go! If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
