Micheal Kyle Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Tim, Barry, and myself got down to Taney at about noon. We motored up to the point and started catching fish swinging soft hackles after about an hour of doing so we decided that we had enough of that. I rowed the boat across to the north bank and as we made our way down the bank of the big hole and the rocking chair hole, we were catching a fish on just about every cast using a hopper. Slam it down on the water and twitch once or twice fish on. We continued down to the Point Royal Island and caught a few more on the hopper at KOA, when we got down to Point Royal we parked the Clacka and fished the back side of the Island there were several people fishing the front side. We came back around to the front side the crowds had left and several good spots opened up. Tim put on a San Juan with a Copper John dropper, I put a Sculpin on and Barry opted to stay with the Hopper. We were fishing all with in 50 to 75 yards of each other and had quite a few doubles and triples on. Nothing real big but a lot of 15-17" fish. I did spot a nice Bow that would go about 24", I had it on and tried to horse just to much and broke him off. I am trying to condition myself be for I go back to Alaska in September, There is an IGFA 1kg Record that I am going to try and break. So as they say practice makes perfect and what a way to practice for it. I have fished 1kg line every time I go out for the past couple of months and sometimes I forget that I have it on. If any one catches a fish with a sculpin can I have it back(LOL). I think right Now is the best Taney has fished in a few years with all the water that has ran over the past few months it has created some very healthy fish. Plus from the Point Royal area up to the dam it is packed full of fish. Good Luck Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
laker67 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Michael, Sounds like you had another good outing on Sunday. Thanks again for letting me hang with you and Tim on Friday night. I had one of the most enjoyable night of fishing that I've had in a long time. Free flies, good company, and the numbers of fish that we caught, it's real hard to top that combination. Thanks!
Micheal Kyle Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Not a problem any time, like said though I owe you a night with indicator. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
