Well I was planning on giving a more detailed report, but I figured why bother. The fishing was just flat out bad. Fished 9 A.M. to 11 P.M. Sunday and 6 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. today for both crappie and bass on the Niangua Arm between the Little Niangua and the 54 bridge. We used minows for crappie and could never get a consistent bite except briefly under the bridge but they were all small fish. For bass, I tried a variety of lures from plastic worms, spinner baits, crank baits, and poppers but only managed to land a few small ones. Bottom line, if you were planning a trip to LOZ for fishing, go somewhere else. At least it wasn't too hot.

Haven't been fishing in the lake, but anyone that doesnt' have a choice and is already at the lake should try the white bass fishing below Bagnell Dam on the Osage River. (using a white spinner from the bank) I have been literally slaying them... Here's a pic...

Of course you accidentally snag a few of these too...

Yeah, the white rooster tails at wal-mart, the biggest ones I can find.. I also put on a good sized bullet sinker to give it alot of weight. I have been standing right up by the orange line and casting straight out or slightly upstream(keeping on this side of the bright yellow NO FISHING line) and then lowering the rod tip (medium action ugly stick) and reeling about as fast as I can... It seems to keep the lure running high in the water but lets the spinner do it's thing...

I am sure there is a better method, I just don't know it yet...

Thanks for your secret. Was only below the dam once, this year. Current was too swift, so when I went heavier, I snagged a lot. I'll try your method, if I ever do make it there again.... Wader
