Brian Wise
Hey guys, Fished Saturday night with Kyle Kosovich who used to guide with me at ROLF. He had also recently built an old school jon boat that is absolutely beautiful....20' of pure sexyness. Put in at Blair around 7 p.m. and took out at Patrick around 11 p.m., we thought it was actually a lot later than that or we would have taken our time a little more. Saturday night was of course a full moon and was in the mid to low 60's which for August was awesome. We found ourselves casting to the shadows like we would have had we been on the water around 1 in the afternoon. With the twists and turns of the river we would find ourselves in complete darkness and then come around the corner and literally squint because of the moon. Not good for fishing but made the night a very cool experience. Fishing was funny. I caught a little goggle-eye right below Sunburst, and then a decent little brown the only trout of the night and then it was completely goggle-eye and nice goggle-eye at that. Now I have never caught a goggle-eye on the river and probably caught 8 that night. These were goggle-eye that would have been nice on the Bryant. A great night with good company and the boat is too sweet. To give a little depth Brian My Youtube Channel
Kyle Kosovich
Well I have to add it was a very awesome night of casting in the moonlight. The river is such a different place in the dark. Strange noizes, splashes that get your imagination wondering, and every little strike on you fly could be the biggest brown you have wrapped both hands around. So then every stike sends adrenalin coursing through you setting the hook like a tarpon fisherman. Yet. Acctually it was just a goggle eye thats now skipping toward you like a flat river rock. Great times! Brian we can start offering guided goggley night trip now huh? Only if Parker will tie us up some more of those flies though. We couldn't have done it without him. It was a great time. Call me nexttime you want to night float the NorthFork maybe you'll catch one off the front of the boat that looks like this one though istead of the little Goggs. (the goggs were extremely entertaining though) That's a brown my dad caught last August. Have a good one. Brian Wise
I DID send that one skipping across the surface....bet he won't take an articulated Slumpbuster/Parker variant again. Brian My Youtube Channel
Members huz001
Brian, I have done that before and the river seems different at night; my senses play tricks about distances on me and the riffles seem louder. It's a great experience though. Steve
