mosouthpaw Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 today at midnight the turbines stopped. Taney had Zero generation until around 6am,when the most rare sound of all Taneycomo in the past six plus months, the siren sounded.....Then it sounded again around 7am. The lake was wadable, saw hat lamps from gauntlet up to outlet even through the thick fog. Fished Rebar, Non stop action from 2am-5ish. Then we called it a day. Fish were attacking olive sculpins. maybe a dozen or so fisherman total, though i didnt go or look above outlet 2. Lots and lots of hits and hookups. Landed a 16inch bow, partner landed a 18. Most caught were stocker sized. All and All it was a blast. Fishing saturday day was ok, they liked wooleys during the day, and towards dusk they were hitting midge nymphs. Saw occasional fish surface but nothing you could probably key in on unless it was under the outlets. best drift areas were from #1 down to MDC ramp, we flies. Yall shoulda been there.....
Leonard Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Mo... GREAT REPORT!! sounds like you all had a blast last night.... (wished I could have been there!!) Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
DoveTail Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Of course there is not much demand for electricity in those early AM hours so I see why they would shut it down then. It would be nice if they would shut it down during some daylight hours. At least it is a step towards some nonstop high levels. Sounds like fun.
back2roots Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 It WAS GREAT. Got to take my oldest son flyfishing for the first time. We were going to bring the grandkids too....but they got side lined with a turtle in ouor back yard and wanted to stay at the house. They were running a good "one" unit but he still got into some good wading. He caught a couple 15"+ bow's on a scud then on a P & P up by outlet 1. A got a couple of Browns about the same size on an inch-worm and then a P & P. It was a GREAT time especially when it started raining and everyone else pretty much left. Blessings! Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!

Yes it was aero generation, they were not letting the water out down at power site. That will keep the level high at the dam. when this happens you have to go to the electricity chart and that will tell you that it is off. Wow so many charts and graphs where is Ross Perot when you need him To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Murdoc Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I was wondering what was going on!! It was more like a small lake than a river. I haven't seen what Taney looks like after all the summer flow so it was a little scary wading around. With the squid somewhere lurking I didn't want to step off in a deep hole and give him a chance at me!!! It was still great fishing!!! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/

With all of the sightings lately, it's kind of spooky at night. That white SUV that was on the north side of the parking lot was still there when I left on sunday afternoon. nobody knows what happened to him, but I'm watching the news for a missing person alert. With the squid, bigfoot, the 2 wolves that are still on the loose, the barracuda, and the snake that Carl swore was an anaconda, I think I've fished my last night at T-como.
perchjerker Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I was up above outlet 1 Fri., & Sat. for some time during the day. A red San Jaun with a primrose & pearl dropper was working excellent. A #4 shot 7" above the San Jaun was getting it down to the fish.I had a friend with me that should never try to flyfish. If anyone saw a polar bear trying to fly fish that was Rich (catcher mitts for hands) Bartman. We were able to find a few suicidal fish with one nice Brown and 1 big Bluegill.Could'nt do any night fish due to too many Blue Jello Shots at Ernie Biggs. It was great fishing without half of Tablerock coming thru the valley below. Hope to see some of you on Sept. 26,27 on the next trip down.
