twosets Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I believe that if you examine his positions, Obama is in favor of shuffeling "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
Members McCloud Posted September 4, 2008 Members Posted September 4, 2008 loo10, I agree with you...what McCain went through during his hostage years took monumental courage and self sacrifice. He stood up for his fellow servicemen and the USA. That still doesn't certify him as the best candidate, in my opinion. I respect your opinion and would appreciate some verifiable proof that Obama has had relationships and connections with terrorists and hate mongers (the William Ayres thing was discounted earlier on a different thread). If you have proof, my viewpoint of him may change. Thank You, Jim Jim Jeremiah Wright,I believe is a hate monger-the attached is verifiable proof. My question for Obama would be why did it take twenty years to distance yourself from this racist? Attachment: Wright married Barack and his wife Michelle. He baptizes Barack’s two daughters and has been Obama’s pastor for more than twenty years. He is even credited in Barack’s book, The Audacity of Hope, and the title actually came from one of Wright’s sermons. I have tried to gather and compile some of the more inflammatory remarks from Wright below. If I have missed any of his most outrageous rants then please feel free to drop a comment with it below. All Quotes Attributed to Pastor Jeremiah Wright “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye.” “We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” (Sep 2001) “The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God darn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people. God darn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God darn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.” (2003) “In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.” (magazine article) “Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!…We [in the U.S.] believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.” (sermon) “Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary would never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.” “Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain’t! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.” (sermon) “The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for over 40 years now. Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community and wake up Americans concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism.”
bigredbirdfan Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Actually I think if you looked real close you would see that its not the main stream media, and I include Fox in this also that is taunting the child, its the Far Right and Far Left bloggers who are trying to keep this alive. But most importantly both campaigns have suspended any discussion of it. I know for fact Couric (CBS), today show NBC and CNN the worst of the bunch has spent a lot of coverage on trashing and discrediting Palin including the pregnant kid story. What constitutes Far Right and Far Left? To me far left is all of Obama's agenda. This country has never had a far right government.
soggyfeet Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 "I respect your opinion and would appreciate some verifiable proof that Obama has had relationships and connections with terrorists and hate mongers (the William Ayres thing was discounted earlier on a different thread). I will not call him reverand because a man of the cloth regardless of faith does not lead people in that manor. I am not what you would call a religous person but I respect most reigions. I get most of my views by thinking of what is RIGHT, it may not be the most economical or convenient for me at the time (if the situations were to arise) but what is best outcome for all in the long run. I belive that too many people think the elections are about them. Thats not the case politics is not about you or me but about all of us and what is best for everyone. Takeing care of those weak or unable is a nessasity but at the same time we need to stop the people that take advantage of the system. There are too many people out there that want something for nothing or think the government owes them something. Both parties are guilty of swooning the different groups of people in this country just for votes nowing all to well that the only thing that will be done is to throw them a bone every now and then. Every four years it starts all over again. Four years from now we will all be haveing the same conversations with at least one different name. But a few things stay the same; we will have our own views on topics (be it selfish or for the greater good), we will still only have two legimate choices for president. The one thing I wish is the ones that should run for president wont because they dont want to deal with this mad house of a political process. Where is the Powell/Rice ticket Brian
taxidermist Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 After watching the Palin acceptance speach, I certainly how she can carry thru. The son heading to Iraq npw has the option of not going. deplys on 9-11. We do know the gov. needs to be cut, big spending needs to be cut, we need to drill now and all the while be working on new energy. either way this election will be historic. and like the books of old. and "YOU ARE THERE.!"
DD'sMC Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I certainly do not want to put myself in the middle of any of this political argumentation. However, I want to say that I have not ever experienced as an intense of a feeling of excitement and national hope from a politician ever in my lifetime (not that I'm all that old mind you ) as I do now, with Sarah Palin. I truly have not ever seen anyone like this "lipsticked pitbull". She is all that and a bag of chips! Just wanted to exercise my 1st amendment right and say, IMHO, she is exactly who we, as United Americans, need living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. McCain/Palin 2008 See ya'll back here in 2012. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
Trav Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 BRAVO! Great speech! I honostley believe she can walk the talk. Screw the skeptics! This lady is all business. Heck, if she didn't have so many kids I might run away with her. By the way, if I was going to raise Elephonkeys, do you think I could make any money? Is there a market out there? Chief Grey Bear Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 BRAVO! Great speech! I honostley believe she can walk the talk. You are right. She talked just like everyone of the others that night. Nothing said about where this country needs to be and how to get there. It was nothing more than a Demo, finger pointing, bash session. jdmidwest Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 Follow the herd, there is strength in numbers. Only the weak and sick will be weeded out. The majority of the people can't be wrong can they? I think the RNC last night pointed it out very clear, we need experienced, qualified leaders for the future. Obama campaign uses Change to promote themselves, McCain campaign will use experience to promote Change. Obama is the least experienced candidate in 100 YEARS. We need a leader, not a speaker. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
taxidermist Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Greybear, we know political speeches are mostly bullcrap. Look at Clintons words! he once said "Political speech's don't count!" Her rating of 80% favorable in her state is something that cannot be denied, she promised reform and she has done it. We all know too, you cannot make promises, you cannot keep, so in that respect even you have to admit she is honest. She has leadership experience, which Obama does NOT! I listen to the left radio and the right radio on XM. While maybe I don't write well I do research and I see our country under the poor leadership of Congress and the Senate is heading down the Socialist road, thats not what I put my life on the line for, thats not what I still will defend! Only time will tell if Palin can keep her Pitbull attitude. At lest she has been a leader she has Executive experience. Obama has nothing "Just words" When you compare experience and time on the job. Even as a state Senator Obama could not make a decision, instead of taking a stand as any real man would do, he simply could not decide and voted "Present on I think 140 issues!!!! As a Senator or law maker you must make a stand and do what you think is right, you can't stand over the fence and be wishy washy. Right or wrong on the decision make a stand and if you are wrong admit it and move on.
