Seth Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Tons of fish were in the stream. I only seen a few that were 15"+ though and the majority would be around 10-12. The girlfriend and I got down there around noon and fished the bluff side of the Lacy hole till about 2:30. The fish bit really well. She caught all of her fish on trout worms in orange and green. They preferred the green better she said. I had my best luck on 007 bait, green and white rubber legged jigs, and a beadhead pheasant tail. The fish are chasing each other an awful lot now. I'm guessing it's the spawning urges starting to kick in for the fall.
Members lizard Posted September 3, 2008 Members Posted September 3, 2008 I always wondered about that spawning of browns vs. the bows. I guess it browns in the spring and rainbows in the fall?
Kayser Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Browns spawn in the fall, the bows spawn in either spring or fall depending on which species. I think the Missouri rainbows (the cross-bred strain developed by Missouri fish hatcheries) are spring spawners, but I could be wrong. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
DoveTail Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 The stock from the hatcheries are fall spawners (rainbows), they are gearing up now and will be doing some in 2 weeks.
