Began in Zone 1 late morning and"gave up" two hrs later. Very few anglers fishing, water high, somewhat discolored, with fast flow/drift. None of the anglers I talked with had any luck and didn't see one fish caught. From the looks of things, could be a couple of weeks before it gets back to anything resembling normal. Sooooo...anybody coming from out of state or long drives, may want to call around first.....Most likely will be an expensive and disappointing trip.

Bummer. At least the good news is the spring is already on the way down. The 7pm reading was 2.96' after it's peak today. I'm speculating in a few days it will be okay. At least the water was not muddy (if you are calling it stained). That should clear up fast.

i fished monday and tuesday before all the rains hit and didn't see many people catching. i didn't catch any in the park, and just three in the bennett public access area. fella in the park shop said he hadn't been seeing or hearing of too many people doing well. i have always done better at bennett on high water. fish a sinking line and strip a streamer.

I went thursday evening after the rains came through.. the water was rising quite a bit (and was already pretty high) and there was grass floating all over, so getting a lure down and keeping it down was pretty hard... I ended up just below the spillway in zone two and limited out.. But it took about three hours, which is highly unusual for me... I was using a white and red rooster tail... I know, I was gut fishing.. But I was catching, wasn't I?

thanks for the update Bob.. Next time you want to try the river let me know and I can put you in the front of my boat...

The noon reading is already down to 2.80' which is higher than it was a before the rains but shows a pretty quick drop relatively speaking. Should be getting better every hour I would think and in a few days really good if they haven't already started biting.

Did you ever get in touch with Ed & Kay? at Larry's?

The only good line is a tight line

No, I didn't... It's in the plans but I have been pretty busy with work and family... It's birthday season amongst my nieces and nephews and the Laclede Literacy council's charity events are all on my plate at once.. Then GM comes along and announces Employee Pricing.. So works been picking up too.. I appreciate you following up on the advice though..

FYI the Bennett gauge is down to 2.5 ft and the discharge is going down quite a bit.. The open river is still up quite a bit..
