Chief: My source is me (Iam military retired and served in the military both during peace time and at war. I can tell you that every military installation I was at or had friends at (my brother is also retired military) suffered a shortage of manpower in the 90's. We had the same missions and the same amount of work to be done-we just did it with fewer people (translation LOTS OF OVERTIME). So if it is a documented source you are looking for I am not familiar with where to find it other than a famous quote made by Bill Clinton that should be easy to find (especially for Clinton fans). It went "I loathe the military". I did not add a word they were all genuinely his. Pretty easy to see where I cast my vote.

Well, your "source" appears to be a talk show host from Texas. I am quite positive there will be no biased opinions there. But there are a couple of things he said that peaked my interest:

"Pick up the story with newly-sworn-in President Bill Clinton’s first budget, submitted on March 27, 1993. He asked for $263.4 billion—$10 billion less than the final budget under the first President Bush. The budget scrapped most funds for President Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, called Star Wars by the media." I don't see how the military would have suffered. It appears that a yet to be proven system that may or may not even be needed was scraped.

"In 1994, troops were sent to Haiti, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Clinton asked for a Defense increase of just $2.8 billion but Congress approved a decrease of $17.1 billion. The shrinking budget caused sharp reductions at the Pentagon. " Wouldn't that have been your republican congress that done that?

"At this point, (1996) we are well into the Clinton presidency and the eleventh straight year of declining military budgets." Did you catch what it said here? Clinton was in the fourth year of his Prediency and it was the 11 year in a row for the decline of military budgets. In other words the decline started with Regan in 1985.

Now, I did not research this to look for, if any, errors. But I did notice this is not so much a report of facts as it is a somewhat biased opinion.

BTW are you claiming that Obama is Muslim? I would like to read your reseach on that.

Here is a funny, well I find it funny, little something for ya'll. Muhammad Ali is Muslim and yet nobody hates him.

Timothy Mcviegh was raised as a catholic and he still committed an act of terrorism. I don't think that a person's religious beliefs should affect they're ability to be our president.

It doesn't but good luck getting elected ;)

TF, I Googled your quote " I Loathe the military" and this is what I found. http://msgboard.snopes.com/cgi-bin/ultimat...;f=101;t=000179

I think you may find it of some interest. I know I will be interested in your response.

Chief. I read (but not completely or carefully I might add) the link you provided. As far as I was concerned Clinton was a coward that ran away from a war. He had pull from powerful people in just the right places and used it like he used everything else. Just from my experience however, I personally think the story about the Fort Bragg incident is a load of crap-I can't imagine it happening that way. After all, as unpopular with the military as he was, if he DID want to make an appearance at an installation (I'm thinking photo op here) why wouldn't he just go to Andrews AFB in the district where he has his own personal honor guard? No he was unpopular but not to the extent that folks were out to get him (and I guess that is what the reference was about. We made our displeasure felt in other ways. Unfortunately he didn't notice it in the 96 election but Al Gore did in the 2000 (check the military absentee ballot)

That is all you have? At least, as impossible as it may be, try to defend your post.

I remember when Ali announced his faith and refused to go to the draft, everyone hated him.

For what? A couple of years maybe?
