Members Scudman
Thought I would post these pics, I'm new to the board but not Taney, I have seen some discussion on Walleyes in Taney and thought I would share these. These two bruisers were two of the largest fish caught in one night while I was fishing with Leonard and another guy (sorry I forgot your name). Leonard you're the man.....sorry i'm just now getting these posted, by the way that PMS you gave me finally bit the dust! I caught so many fish on that jig over the last few weeks the paint wore off the jig head. High water...... bring it on... it makes bad boys like these come up to the upper lake. Members HeavyC
Hey Leonard, sorry I did not know you were one in the same when I met you at the store back before Labor Day or I woulda introduced myself! I was in there with my nephew during our trip down and you showed my that huge 9' wood swimbait you wanted to try on some monster brownies! Have you been able to give it a whirl yet? Any luck? On a sadder note I have to admit, that a couple of days later we couldn't find you when we saw you walking down the highway and your van was down with the hood up! We did make a u turn and went looking for you, but no luck! We figured you slipped into the Mickey D's or the other store and found some help, so sure hope you did! Next year maybe! HC Out! "Imagine reaching for an apple on a tree and having your hand suddenly impaled by a metal hook that drags you—the whole weight of your body pulling on that one hand—out of the air and into an atmosphere in which you cannot breathe. Leonard
you showed my that huge 9' wood swimbait you wanted to try on some monster brownies! Huh?? what?? 9"inch stick bait...LOL yes its been in the water and its like casting a brick... freaking AWESOME action.. All I can say about it is... Im going to need a bigger rod..LO Yes the van broke down.. the water pump/tenioner/an timing chain all went at the same time. I made it over to the gas station over there and called my dad.. Got everyone home safe and the is being fixed... ready to be picked up in the morning. Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Trav
I am impressed! I guess it is time for me to dig out my northern gear. Time to drift with live minnows again. Havn't done that on Taney since the late 80's. Used to pull guys like that all the time drifting in the dark. I thought the walleye was about dead in this lake. To be honost, this year has me confused. And I have lived here pretty much all my life. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. bigredbirdfan
Is this magic jig white in color and 1/8 oz?
Leonard
Bigred.. The Jig is a PMS (http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10006) tied on a 1/8oz jig head.... This has been great in high water!! I cant do a PMS in white... because I have yet to find white pine squirrel.. My understanding is the hair is to fine to bleach and just falls apart. But I have done a modification to it... Rabbit... but that is the only thing that can get it close.. ........... and yes I have a few tied with rabbit..LOL...... There was a few people on the water yesterday afternoon between 2-3pm.... I was tossing the PMS jig nd hooked a brown.... a VERY BIG BROWN!! For the ones that was there saw it... this fish would foresure went 12+lbs... he headed toward the main current and came off. how big was he, I would put a 28 to 30in on this ... he was a freaking MONSTER.. Im very surprised he didnt snap my line. He took a big leap out of the water.. and was gone. http://www.taneycomonights.com
Members Scudman
Have they opened any flood gates since the major rain? I dont want any flooding, but that seems to get things stirred up. Seems like I have noticed that the higher the water the larger the stick baits..... Blue/Silver still seem to be working well. Leonard, I'm still chasing that one that got off when I was fishing with you.
Members wackinbass
Scudman, I caught this 7.96lb 27" walleye and monster smallie just 4mo's earlier than the night you caught your fish with Leonard (May 2008) on a night mission on Taneycomo. Thanks for posting your picture. I caught mine on a spoon in 15' water about 250yds from Tablerock dam. Needless to say, I ate it and got a skin mount of it. The smallie was released and I now have a replica of the 4lb monster.
