ecce38 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Just curious (and perhaps a little bored too) , but it looks like we'll be getting the remnants of Ike and it made me wonder what effect it would have on the lake level. As of this post, the level is 1127.5. They got 3 feet to play with more or less. So, guess the effect of this storm system on the lake level using the scale below: 0= no effect/change 2= 1 foot or less 3= at least a 1 foot increase 5= 1-2 foot increase at most 6= 2 foot increase maybe 8= 3 foot increase for sure 10= flood gates baby! Judging from the current track, I'd say about a 5. It's an all skate! Give me your take. wily Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 i'm going to say it'll be an 8 but a 10 is a definite possibility potential for 6 inches of rain over the weekend...sounds like a lot to me. better batten down the hatches
ecce38 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 Wichita Kansas just had 9 inches of rain. More on the way and this is NOT IKE. I give you all a 10. Wayne SW/MO Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Gustav brought a lot of rain on dry ground, Ike is predicted to produce more rain, and on saturated ground. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Leonard Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Wanye is right.. the ground is soaked... More rian would just be run-off.. I know nobody wants to see the gates open because of the bigger fish.. But honestly.. Id like to see them go ahead and open a couple.. get rid of as much water as we can before it hits us.... if we are at 918 now... 5-10inches of rain is going to put us right back where we started in March/April... Another reason for draining it now.. is so we dont flood downtown again... even if they open 3-5 gates.. that would release alot of water and then see what it looks like after the weekend. Is the Mississippi still flooded?? But it is suppose to hit tonight... so there would really be no time at all to drop the lake enough... Just my thoughts.. Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
rps Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Writing now is a sure way to being wrong. None the less, we are looking at the wettest year since when? Why not a wet winter? 920+ is my wager on Thanksgiving. How wrong am I?
Bman Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Well, now that Ike's past...anyone have any rainfal numbers for Table Rock, Tanney? Any word if flood gates are gonna be opened? What are you local experts predicting? Maybe we ought to start a poll/gentlemens wagers on when wade conditions might happen. LOL The only good line is a tight line
Zack Hoyt Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I had 3.25' in my guage at Pea Ridge. Lots of rain, but driving into work this morning, one thing was appareant. RUNOFF There was a ton of water in the creeks. I believe it was said earlier, but we are saturated. Dig a hole deeper than a foot deep and you will hit ground water. Members gobblergetter Posted September 14, 2008 Members Posted September 14, 2008 The range gauge here in ozark said six inches i was just out looking at the finley and between 10 and 12 30 it rose about four foot between 12 30 and 2 00 it had rose a good 3 or 4 more feet so look at downstream i dont think the james will peak until the smaller tributaries that dump into it peak
