Members wallichaser Posted September 15, 2008 Members Posted September 15, 2008 Can anyone tell me what the current water temperature is at Stockton and if you have a feeling when it may turn-over. This time last year a friend and I were up for some fall Crappie. Marked a ton of them and never caught one in two days of hunting. We attributed our lack of success to lake turn-over. I am not from this area and am wondering if turn-over has the same effect on the fishing as it does up north. We always had to wait 2-3 weeks after turn-over for fishing to improve.

Lake turnover only occurs when the surface water temp reaches 39 degrees. It happens when the lake is cooling down and again when it warms back up to that 39 degrees. During a mild winter it may not occur at all.
