Trout Stalker Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I love the Niangua and would like to know how "healthy" it is. From the boat ramp at Bennett Springs access down to the island wasn't very impressive. I watch them run 200 feet up from the ramp and down to almost to the island. They made several passes and wasn't scooping that many fish up.

I would imagine with the bait fishing allowed and low stocking rates compared to the parkk, that section is put and take so it will get totally fished out until the next stocking without any size limits.
Trout Stalker Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 I wanna hear more about the cute moss cutter. I knew that I would get someones attention. Show was attractive and wore waders and a ball cap. She knew how to operate a 9.9hp outboard and take a hammer and make adjustments on the cutter. Shoulds like a perfect lady, doesn't it?

I would like to see some size limits on the river in some areas.
brittsnbirds Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Kind of off topic but does have some bearing on quantities. I spoke with Eric at the store on Friday night. Asked him how many tags they were down since same time last year. He looked up last years and said they were 9600 tags (including children) down since last year. Wonder how that will effect the release numbers next year. When I asked one of the workers at the hatchery about how they figured how many fish to release he said it was based on the previous years tag sales. Not by what was being sold this year. I don't know if that is right but if it is next year might be interesting! Pat
