Spinnaker Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 techo: Until this year crank baits were the only thing I threw except for thr occassional meps in Canada. My resort owner tells me that when the water cools in November the smallies go for stick baits, sometimes spinners and he said jigs are always on the menu. This time I found a lure hooked to a line that was buried in the rocks about 18 feet down. I suspect that it may have had a rod on the other end but I could not get it to move, The lure had not been in the water that long and it was a floater, about a foot under the surface. I started using the lure and it was very effective so I went to Walmart and found the same lure. I bought a couple in case I lost the one I had found. Sure enough, the next day it got hooked on a submerged tree and it broke off. It was a Norman "little n" and dives down to 9 feet or so. I do not know if the solunar table indicates what was going on last week, but I had a pretty good day one day with 19 bass. Now only a few were keepers and almost all of them were smallies. Of course any bass is good but smallies are my favorites to catch. Maybe we can hook up in November. It depends on what the weather is like and I need to get up to Chicago to visit my parents around Thanksgiving week. I understand that there is a bass Tourney at the state park marina in Hollister around the 1st of November. I wonder if that screws up fishing for a week after the Tourney. Check you later.
techo Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 kcangler the smallmouth are my favorite to fight for sure. I think the Wiggle Warts are real similar to the little n. I am not sure about the tournament ether. I see the AIA boys and Heartland have one in October and November. I doubt they will mess up fishing to much. The bass seem to be a little harder to find during the tournament for me. Maybe we can all hook up and have our own little tournament of fun. Winner gets coffee! Tim Carpenter
