Whack'emGood Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 The only early November pro tournament that I know of is Central Pro-Am, which will be Nov. 1-2. In all likelihood, probably won't be more than 60 boats in it. Shouldn't crowd the lake at all. The FLW Stren Series Championship is fishing out of State Park Marina from 11-5 to 11-8. It is gonna be 200 boats for four days. Not good news to me, but it shouldn't hurt the fishing. There are so many places to catch'em on TR that there will never be a time when there aren't a bunch of good open spots that hold fish. Welcome down KCANGLER, and good luck! Keep a close eye on the forum as it gets closer to your trip! Whack'em "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Spinnaker Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Whack'em: That's the tourney that I heard about from my resort owner. His place is a mile or so from the Marina. I thought about coming down on Monday the 9th, but 200 boats and all PROs at that?? Gees. I can understand that the areas up stream miles away the tourney will not affect too much. 200 boats, 4 days, 5 keepers per day (plus), thats 4000 fish caught and released. By the way, I assume that all of the keepers will be released at the Marina? You guys know a lot more about fishing than I ever will. Do you think I will have success if I come down on the 9th? I suppose I could wait until Wednesday to come down. I will keep an eye on the forum and the weather. Thanks.

Even if they all catch'em really well like you say they will, it won't affect the fishing. There are so may bass in TR that even if they caught 30,000 bass, you would barely even notice it (if at all). Sure, there will be a some spots that get beat pretty hard for 4 days, and then won't be good for a few days afterward. However, there are so many places that hold fish that there will be plenty of catching for guys like us-- whether we fish during or immediately after the tourney. Think of it this way... there are probably at least 5,000 (just throwing out a number...) decent or better "fishin holes" on TR where you can have a chance to pick up at least a fish or two on any given day or time. There are only 200 boats in the tourney... they can't cover all of those holes at once!! Also, after the weigh ins, they will use a release boat to release the fish. They will spread them out throughout the lake. There are so many bass in TR that it would boggle the mind, and at any given time, a bunch of them are catchable!! When you get here (whenever you decide to come down) go out there and get'em!!! You will do fine. Good luck! Spinnaker Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Your confidence is welcome. I will come down! Thanks for the pep talk Coach!
Whack'emGood Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 You're welcome. If you have any questions about how the fishing is or need a tip or two when your trip gets closer, don't hesitate to ask. There are some great guides and others on here that are happy to help and really know what they are talking about.
