Spammers off Google mail got so bad, we finally had to block GMAIL.COM off our firewalls and that's too bad because it is a really good service and free of charge.

I HATE HATE HATE this kind of thing. I am a network/IT guy and I spend tons of time unblocking, chasing down blacklists, messing with reverse DNS, SPF, creating email server work arounds to allow specific domains, administering spam appliances, etc, etc, etc. I would like to take the largest spammer, hog tie them, and throw them in the water. This is not the type of work I enjoy doing, rather it is a pain in the neck (not a worthy challenge, but an annoyance). I feel your pain on having to block something like Gmail. It is ridiculous. I cringe everytime one of my clients tells me, "I can't email anyone at AOL.com" (or anything similar), most of the time due to something totally out of their control.
