Has anyone been down to cardiac lately, I am planning on going down in a week or so and was wonding if the browns have made any appearances down there

I fished Cardiac for a few hours last Thursday afternoon. Water was in great shape (it is going up today), but the three of us didn't get a bite. Tried cracklebacks, wooly buggers, caddis, prince nymphs, pine squirrel sculpins. In other words, top water, deep, and in between.

If they are going to appear anywhere, this time of year, it will be upstream. Below the park, in the park...

The Rainbows will be dropping thier hormones, eggs, milt. This helps in calling the Browns upstream.

Browns are masters of moving up and lying/hiding in deep swift cuts in the stream bed. So they can be very hard to spot.

In my opinion, fall and winter are times to stay closer to the springs. There are springs(small flow) coming up through the stream bed between the Dry Fork creek and Maramec Spring Park as well!!

The only good line is a tight line

I'd agree with Bman...the area closer to the spring tends to hold more fish in the Fall & Winter..Plus there is a marked increase in jet boat traffic this time of year...folks out gigging, bowhunting, and scouting for rifle season. Weekend afternoons seem to see the most boat traffic. Cheers.
