Mark Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 We got very little rain around Ste. Gen. and St. Louis counties. We have a group coming down this weekend, not for Fly Fishing Festival, and floating below Blue Ribbon area. Did you get any rain? How does the river look for Oct. 17-18?? Thanks in advance Mark
Members Golden Blend Posted October 17, 2008 Members Posted October 17, 2008 Fished Cane Bluff to Greer last Sunday (10/12), then Riverton to the Arkanasas border Monday & Tuesday. Received light and steady 4 hr rain on Monday, but weather was otherwise perfect. River is in outstanding shape in my opinion. One very low spot above Greer, but if you are below that, you'll be in great shape. Good luck!
jdmidwest Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Great, we are coming over to fish Monday, putting in at Whitten and motoring up. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Brian Sloss Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Mark & Snap, Nice to meet you guys on Saturday down at Whitten. I hope that the fish were as cooperative as the weather - what a beautiful day to be on the river. Ryan www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
snap Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Good to meet you also Ryan!!! It was a beautiful 2 days on the river for us. We walked in at the top of the White Creek hole Friday(getting tougher every year) and were shot after a short nights sleep ...otherwise, we prob would have talked a bit more with you before getting on the river. Fishing was good both days ...egg patterns worked best for me...key was finding the correct weight to get it on the bottom to bounce with the current. Most fish were ..12-13 inches,,,a few colorful ones around 15 inches! I commend you for helping JR out with the moving of a canoe...saw you help him at Turner in July also...!!! Good to see things like that!!! We never make it to town...but need to make it a point to and stop by the store...interested in the crawdad from Don.
Mark Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Ditto, Ryan. We have made 4-5 trips a year for the past 11-12 years and have never had a bad experience, even if the fish weren't biting, which has been very seldom. We like the noncommercialism and solitude of the river. Everyone we have dealt with has always done all they can to accommodate us, Mike and Wendy Jones at Hufstedlers, Sheri Hovis, Dave and Rosemary Case, the restaurants in town, all very friendly people.
