I got out for 90 minutes last evening. Boated up to Lookout cause I had a midge-itch... wanted to catch a trout on a midge. It's been along time. Hardly anyone out. Beautiful evening with the trees starting to color up. Running the usual 5 feet of water. The eddie at the island was perfect and fish were rising!

They didn't like my black #16 zebra very well. Got one to take it. They were rising in the seam where the current met the slower water. So I tied on a #16 black soft hackles and, boom, they were all over it. Caught 6 rainbows about 12-13 inches long in short order. Very good fighters!! I was impressed.

Wanted to try something else before it got dark so trolled over to the other side to start drifting down the shallow side and noticed a TON of rainbows surfacing in that eddie. Leaves and "stuff" was coming off the bank there and there must have been alot of small bugs too cause there was a huge school of I bet stockers eating like crazy. Soft hackle didn't work because of the stuff on the water. And they really didn't like a zebra. Ran out of daylight before I figured it out. Could have taken a small dry. May have to find out tonight!
