Members Muleball39 Posted October 17, 2008 Members Posted October 17, 2008 Does anyone know where to get the glow sticks like Chuck from Anglers & Archers has, anywhere here in Springfield? Does Backcountry Outfitters have any or any other place you might know of?

Micheal Kyle Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I do not have them Talk to Chuck or any golf store thats what they are used for as well. They drill a hole in the ball and use them for driving ranges or I guess playing at night on a lighted course. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
zsmith62 Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 They sell them at walmart too. Can anyone explain how they rig up thier glow sticks, I try to rig one up everytime i'm out at night, but they always seem to pull the indicator under, making it hard to tell when I've got a strike. Zach Smith
Micheal Kyle Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Zach stop by and I will show you. What You need is a high water indicator they are about 1.5" long you will need to drill it out I believe it takes a 5/32 drill bit so that the glow stick will fit into it. You will also want to paint the indicator if not they will be like a floating beacon. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Members ulua Posted October 18, 2008 Members Posted October 18, 2008 I've used it with a stick type indicator and attached the glow stick to the stick. See pix.
zsmith62 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Ulua- that looks pretty close to what i do, but i can never seem to keep them up, and for me at least, i think theyre kinda awkward to cast accuratley. Zach Smith
Micheal Kyle Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 The high water floast that I'm talking about you can get here or at Wal-mart and the glow stick will fit inside of it after you drill it out a little. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
fly2fish Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I have found in the old Wal-Mart in Branson floats that have a black plug in them that can be taken out and the glow stick inserted, you have to put a couple wraps of scotch tape around the stick to make it fit tight. The neat thing about this floats in the side has a split in it so they can be put on and taken off without having to take your flies off. The Branson store is the only one that I have found these in. It is easier than drilling them out. I use the Beacon refills in green or yellow. HC
2sheds Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Please be careful ! That's a nasty chemical to introduce to the waterways.
