Members midgelover Posted October 19, 2008 Members Posted October 19, 2008 I am headed that way this weekend and have never fished the river. I am looking for any advice about where to but in and what to fish with. Catfish? Whites or stripers? Crappie? Thanks for your help George
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 19, 2008 Root Admin Posted October 19, 2008 Logging in under your mom's name now? Funny. Hope you catch a bunch!!
ozarkgunner Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 You can catch anything and everything below the dam. I have had several trips where I have caught a limit of whites, crappie, catfish, and bass (I don't eat bass). My buddy got a huge wiper last time. The key is using the right bait and finding the edge of the heavy current. I don't like live bait, but Bagnell is one place I will, can, and do fish it. Buy about 5 dozen medium minnows and drift the edge of the current (if they are running) use a #4 gold hook and a riversplit shot (one that is totally round so it dosen't hang). Have fun. Watch your limit and throw back what you won't eat. It is very easy to go over the limit below bagnel (yes even 30 crappie). Tight lines! Ps. Shad sides work great for cats. Angler At Law
twosets Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Hey Phil At Mom's on the way to the rams game, didn't want to log her out as she has trouble logging back in. Someone stold my rams team and they had imposters playing today. Hey Gunner, thanks for the advice Fishing those minnows on the bottom? How deep is it? Will post my results Thanks George "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 20, 2008 Root Admin Posted October 20, 2008 I figured so much... What about the Rams??!?!? They looked pretty good.
twosets Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Hey Phil Unbeleivable, those rams. A little leadership goes a long way I guess. We did a joint birthday party for mom(10-31) and dad(9-21) after the game, it was great. Sorry to read your report on tany, those are some sick looking fish. Does not seem to be any quick fix to the problem. Are you seeing a lot of dead/dying fish? Based on that it does not look like we will be down this fall, a warm winter weekend may be the ticket. All my best to you and your family George "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."

The fishing is best when the water is running. Angler At Law

FishinCricket Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I will be below the dam on Sunday morning... Looks like they have had some pretty hectic past few days as far the generators are concerned, anyone have any guesses as to what the river will look like tomorrow? Depth, water speed, # of generators running, etc? Any advice would be appreciated.. I only have 5HP on the John boat, am I crazy to think I can get in there and tangle with the big boys and the current? cricket.c21.com
