Members willber Posted October 28, 2008 Members Posted October 28, 2008 Jeremy, don't sweat these guys. You are entitled to your opinion. I appreciate you giving us the striaght dope and I am sure others do as well. I'm just a pion. I only get to fish Taney a handful of times a year and rely on you kind folk who actually know what you are talking about. With all the flooding, it is real hard to look at this year on Taneycomo and say it has been great. For all those like myself who are hoofing it below the dam, it has been real tough with 30 gizillion cubic feet per second coming from Table Rock, basically 24/7 for the last several months. (Not too mention all the people who have lost docks, property, customers, etc.) Hey, next year has got to be better.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 28, 2008 Root Admin Posted October 28, 2008 ??? Just checking the forum this evening. All this fuss about "nothing"?
Members willber Posted October 28, 2008 Members Posted October 28, 2008 ??? Just checking the forum this evening. All this fuss about "nothing"? Jeremy posted a not so good fishing report that he labeled "honest" and got a little grief in return, decided he had enough.
Members FliTrap4 Posted October 28, 2008 Members Posted October 28, 2008 fuss? What fuss? didn't see much fussing! Just different views on the topic of fishing! Really nothing then reflections of our experiences! I thought everyone made SOME good points! FliTrap

vanven Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 If someone is going to take the time to write out a good fishing report with complete sentences, good insight, and with information that is helpful to me I am always going to be appreciative. Most of the time it isnt that fun to sit down and type one of these things out. I usually end up typing mine while I sit in my cube angry on the inside that I am not back on the water. If you know Jeremy or have had an opportunity to chat with him about Taney and fly fishing in general you know the excitement and emotion he has about the sport. Occasionally that doesnt translate well in written text. Personally, my sarcasm doesnt translate well at times either. *Insert some joke about fat kids and powerbait* -Jerod
back2roots Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Viewpoints are all relative. My "Best day on the water" most likely would be a new "record low day " for most posters. To quote an old Paul Simon tune: One mans ceiling......is another mans floor. Blessings !!!!! Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
Members D.T. Posted October 28, 2008 Members Posted October 28, 2008 Jeremy, I apologize if anything in my post offended you that was not my intention at all. I appreciate all the posting and fly stuff you have posted in the past. I do want to know though why the drastic difference in post from different people lately. Is it just the conditions day to day or total different way to fish the river from the past? I would have liked to heard your thoughts on that if you addressed any of it before you deleted your posts (I knew I should have spent more time reading the posts and less time working). Bad fishing posts dont upset me at all because it still is a tool to know what others have tried and had lack of success with. It shows trends or patterns that we can learn from. Other question Wouldnt you have thought with all the water that was released it would have deepened the main channel at least for a ways below the dam? Bigredbirdfan, I had a day like that last summer where I couldnt steal a fish. I was in a boat from Lilleys and me and my boys didnt catch a fish on 2 drifts. I take my daughter out the next drift and she catches 2. I thought I was the fisherman in the family. Dave
loo10 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 That's the way it is with fishing... some days are diamonds...some days are stones. We've all been there. That one fly is the killer on one trip so you go home and tie a bunch of them. Then...you rarely catch another fish on it. Keeps it interesting & the fishing shops in business. I take all the reports...good and bad...and use them to get the best overall picture. Then if the BIG GUY smiles on me...I catch a few. When I don't...I figure it's me...so I make "just one mo' cast!"
