TroutBum4wt Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I had a good 8-pointer come about 30 to 35 yards from my ground position this morning. The buck came up the hill after I set off a Buck Bomb. These things work! I was "still" hunting and first saw the gritter approach about 45 yards away. I was standing in the shadow of a wide tree. The shot was too far for my longbow. I feel more comfortable with a 20 yard or so shot. I tried to call him back with several grunts, but he just kept walking along. It was pretty windy. This was my fourth time out this season with traditional tackle. I hope to head out in the morning. It should be mighty cold. "Where There Are Trout, There's Hope" - John Gierach
Seth Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm not brave enough to start using traditional equipment for fear of something like this happening to me. Maybe once I get a few more deer under my belt, but that might take a while. Hope you get one with the long bow. That would be a heck of an accomplishment....especially if you are still hunting!
