Our season opens Sat. Ducks are down, big migration 2 weeks ago with that big front. I saw snows and ducks flying south on that one. Many ponds and lakes around here have ducks on them.

I went hunting this morning in the north zone (I'm currently up in Columbia) and laid into the birds. Shot 4 mallards and a woodie.

The birds are down, but we need more snow up north to really get things going.

A limit of mallards, and things aren't going yet? Man, now I'm really looking forward to this weekend.

I was hunting a small pond and smoked my limit from the 200 or so ducks that came by. I went out today to the same pond and only got to shoot at two flocks of woodies. This weekend is looking like it is going to stink. WAY too warm. I'll be opening up quail season on sat. and might try to draw in at one of the areas on Sunday. The best hunting is almost always during the week.

Got out today for the season opener, hunted a private lake. Had several bunches of ducks work the lake, ended up with 2 ringnecks. Had a nice bunch of greenheads land on the lake as we were leaving after noon. Birds are moving. The woods were on fire today, peak fall colors.
