jdmidwest Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I need some help with the new project that has come about this weekend. I was given a Heddon #8 9' Bamboo. The rod has a slight set, one guide taped on, one tip has oddball tip guide, all wraps need replaced, all guides need replaced due to rust. Any suggestions. I want to do it myself, just not sure where to order guide sets for bamboo. Everything else will stay original, would like to find the original thread but will probably modernize it also. I will probably refinish rod when finished. Reel seat original Bakelite and in decent shape. Grip is good, needs cleaning. Has original tube, sock, both tips. Rolan Duffield Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Make sure you refinish the rod -- first. You should remove any remaining guides and refinish the blank before replacing the guides. Cabelas.com has a full line of guides and accessories for fly rods. They will be glad to send you a catalog. If you have questions, send me an email. Rolan
