Hi I'm Jim and I'll be visiting Branson and Table Rock Lake in 2 weeks. We will be staying at the Big Cedar Wilderness club and am wondering where I can get a great boat rental and close spots to hit with the 8" boat I'm bringing along!

I'm coming from Indiana and will be fishing for those "Lunker Bass"

Appreciate any advice

Thanks Jim

You may want to clarify your question.

Jim let me get you straight, you want to rent a bigger boat than the one you're bringing, but you want to know about some honey holes that you can fish close to where your staying, where you might use the small boat your toting with you, right?

Yes, Petertherock, that's right. I am bringing an 8' boat along but I hear that I can't go far in my Bass Buggy so I want to try a bigger boat. I have read online that there are places to rent boats there and I want to get a good price. It'a a family spring break so I don't have many days and I want to make the best of the time I have........

I am heading off to work as we speak.....can't afford the new Ranger if I don't show up for work.............

Try Big Cedar Hollow for the little boat or take it up to Indian Point and put in. Both areas should offer some fish without having to travel far. For rentals try State Park or Long Creek Marina. I hope this get's you a start.

Jim, since you are staying at Big Cedar, you might want to check out there boat rentals.. They have very nice bass boats for the cost.. The Biggest problem with your little 8'foot boat this time of year is the wind... In the spring months down here we get alot of wind from 10 - 30 MPH.. If you get out of the coves it could become a problem for you. So be careful please..

Next They are a bunch a great places to fish right in that area, I live very close by and spend alot of time in that area.. All of the major creek arms in that area will product great catches.. But this time of year you will have to work for them.. Stickbaits are a good start on calm days, along with a small jigs 1/8 ounce with a small craw in the same color pattern ( This weekend it took over 16 plus pounds just to get a check in a major local tournament and they paid 17 places!!). Fish the hard wood trees on the bluff ends and start to work your way back into the creeks about 1/2 way back. Fish all of the secondary points within thoses same creek arms really good.

Windy days I would start with a crawdad color wiggle wart, fish these parallel to the banks in these same creeks arms. Spinnerbaits are starting to work also on these windy days, work thoses same hard wood trees. Colors for the Spinnerbaits, chart and white, with the same colored blades worked very well for me, also try a shad colored one with silver or gold willow blades.

Hope this helps alittle, just keep on fishing and don't give up..

Hey, thanks for the information. I didn't think about the wind in my boat - I'll be sure to watch out. Even though I fish a lot around here - it's seems like an entirely different world of fishing down there! I may just look into getting a fishing guide when I get there for the short time of our trip - I want to make the best of my fishing time. I think I need to get a site like this for the fishing spots around here!

Long Creek Marina is close to your location and they have a big selection of Trackers, the fishing can be good in that area also. I don't know how they compare in price with Big Cedar.

Bear Creek will be North of you and you might be able to probe the edges in it, in a small boat. It has some very good Crappie fishing in the Spring.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
