focused fishing Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Techo, Still worried about Houdini??? Anyway, we had a small limit, 11.79, caught 2 on an Eakins jig, 2 on a wiggle wart and 1 on a blade. Had two better fish pull off on the wiggle wart close to the boat, they just weren't hitting it well, bearly hooked up on the back hook. Spinnerbait fish came off a cedar tree, first tree I threw at caught 3lb fish and never had another fish on it all day. If we would of had the wind as predicted, 10 - 20 mph, both the wiggle wart and spinnerbait would of shined. Had several fish slap at or follow both but I think the lack of wind let them get to good a look and wouldn't eat it. A ton of fish caught, we had several, Tetric and his partner had 18 keepers, Pete and Lane had 25 keepers, and so on. The average fish bit well but better didn't seem to. Water temp in the dam area was 58.5 - 60.4. Should only get better as the water cools. techo Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Worried about Houdini? A little bit. The wind switching from the north to from the south changed the location a bit for us. I also fish wood a little better than rock and they were on the chunky rock for us. We had the same thing with chasers and teasers, but not taking the lure fish. That is the fun part of fishing for me.....figuring out the pattern. The where seems to be wherever the shad or bait fish is. The speed of retrieve, lure choice, depth and placement of boat is the intriguing part. I think it is awesome fishing out there now. I love this stuff. Almost as good as intercourse. Tim Carpenter
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted November 23, 2008 Fishing Buddy Posted November 23, 2008 Well, JE and I had one of those days as well.. We had over 20 keepers but just could not get any size.. Culling was a a game of 1/2 ounces for us and just could not get any size. On Wednesday and Thursday they were all really nice fish in the 3 pound range or bigger?? All of our fish came on a 3/4 ounce football jig (Of Course) around docks on the main lake at Shell Knob. Matter of fact we never left sight of the bridge all day. We had three docks that were just loaded with fish right in front of them in 25 - 35 feet in the brush piles, some of these fish were taking with a vertical presentation, jigging the bait right on top of the brush, the rest we were flipping into the stalls. Had a great Bite up at the DAM area on Wednesday on the Wart but felt it would not hold out without high winds, wrong again.. Shoulda Coulda thing, just a wrong choice, All-in all a great day on the water alot of fun until I went to the weight in and then left to find that someone had taking my helmet out of JE's boat? Dam can't you just go buy your own?? Just shows you can't trust anyone anymore... What Comes Around Goes Around, they will get the same someday... Anyway Good Fishing Everyone! techo Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 Don, Bummer about your helmet. I moved my digital camera to a less visible spot and then looked at some of my rods that cost $100.00 + with a reel attached. I thought i was silly for hiding my camera as we were surrounded by friendly fishermen. Why on Earth would anyone want to take a stinky old helmet. I know if anyone took mine they would be sorry as soon as they put it on. I sort of wish someone would take it so I could get a new one. My helmet has been on many a long hot rides on my Speed Triple. Anways......sorry for the blemish on an otherwise fun filled day. Tim Carpenter

NitroNick and I ran past you as you put er' down into your first spot we ran into the Kings. We had 12 keepers on the day and of course we lost a few good ones that might have put us in the 15lb range. We weighed 11.79. Our bigger fish came off of the buzzbait. We caught fish on it until about 12:00 as long as we could find shade or had the clouds. Had a few on chug bug and wart and spinner bait. I was hoping for some more wind also, there were a lot of good bags weighed in this one. We came outta the Kings about 1:00 and caught a few shorts working our way back to weigh in. Nice to talk to you Techo. I may fish the TR winter series or White water buddy in a couple weeks.
