redbird Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I havent heard much about Hickory in a while, that could mean 2 things, either the fishing is really good or the fishing is really slow. Im afraid it might be the latter, but does anyone have any info? With my whitebass flyrodding winding down, Im going to try to come down next weekend and am looking for where to start or if I should head straight for Crane, or Capps. Thanks Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
Buzz Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Really slow. Without a stocking since late Sept.or early Oct. the fish are spread out quite a bit. They are there but, not like it was last year. Since catch and release started Nov. 1 we have yet to see Hickory or Capp's stocked. I'm not sure why we have been forgotten or if this is a statewide issue. Maybe someone else on the forum would have the answer to that question. I'll check Wed. to see if they stock and let you know. Buzz If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
redbird Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 Thanks Buzz. I appreciate all of the info you guys share on this site. I am a student of the game and can use all of the help I can get. Bill Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
Buzz Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 More than happy to help Redbird. Anything we can do to help, just ask. Buzz If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 This question got me to thinking last night Buzz. If I'm not mistaken and I have been before, the Shepard Hills hatchery got wiped out during all the flooding this past year. Maybe all the trout are going to Taneycomo? "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Buzz Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Well, that makes sense. Maybe we should petition (or ask nicely) The Neosho Hatchery to stock if The Shepard of The Hills Hatchery is unable. I may shoot them an e-mail to see what they have to say. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
redbird Posted December 10, 2008 Author Posted December 10, 2008 That would be interesting to find out. I may hit Crane this Sat. unless the stock this week. I may not have much luck, but at least I will know Im casting to fish. Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
