Forsythian Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Here's a question for those of you in and around Taney County... there's a fairly sizeable and influential group that's looking to build 5miles of road from Southtowne & 65 (South of Lowes) east to Kirbyville (76 and J, which is the Mincy turnoff). They are looking to package this project with a "Taney County Events Center", a 7,500 seat enclosed facility. Estimated cost ~ 57 million total. As of right now, I'm totally on board with the road... there's almost 20,000 cars a day that hit that 3-way on the east end of the Taneycomo bridge. I think, long-term, an events center near the new airport is viable... not sure if now's the right time though(?) Cenosillicaphobiac
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 12, 2008 Root Admin Posted December 12, 2008 But how long would it take to get thru all the hearings, county meetings (you know how those guys work) and actually building it. I bet it takes 3-5 years to open. May be then there will be a need. The road- yes I think it's a great idea. I know Justin Gage is a big backer.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I would be against an events center. I believe it would simply be another perk for Branson at the expense the taxpayers who would see little benefit. If they think the county needs a better center for activities, then build a better fair ground with a multi use arena, and farther east where more infrastructure would be of greater benefit. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
crappiefisherman Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 If anything Ive learned in Taney county over the last 45 years, its no one does anything for nothing. This is a great Idea but its also a great money making venture for the planning parties.I wonder how much of this land is already owned by the developers, and what kind of exorbinate price they have in the figures. It doesnt really matter to me , but surely people arent that gullible or are they. This is just a road for this event center folks. Its not for you people that live east of town, no matter what is said.Traffic is heavy on e76 , and I know as Im a resisent out there. But it isnt impossible and does move along at a brisk pace.HOW IS THIS ROAD GOING TO HELP THE FIRST 5 MILES OF EAST 76?.Its just my opinion and Im sure others wil vary.Have a wonderful 2009 P.S. do you suppose theres any facts to the rumor that the state will take over the road when completed. the state highway barn on e76 will close early this year ..........hmmmm [ [
Fishhand Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 ...3/8 of a cent tax increase to help pay for the road? and who has the most to gain from it? hummmm....Justin Gage and his planned event center. Interesting. I think he's overextended and desperate. Don't let him fool us like HCW fooled us with The Landing. Just my opinion.
