Members purefish Posted December 20, 2008 Members Posted December 20, 2008 Was getting down there a couple of times a month from joplin but the fish have been getting pretty spread out since early november. I was wondering if they had stocked. I will probably go tomorrow regardless but would give me a little extra motivation if it had been stocked.
Members hopperdad Posted December 20, 2008 Members Posted December 20, 2008 Hopper from tulsa, Fished from the Spring st. bridge to the low-water bridge from 2:30 to 5:30 used #12 olive bead head bugger and #12 brown bead head leach, brought 12 to hand two were 14" from the area near the pedestrian bridge. Most were caught on the leach pattern with aprox. 6" strips and pausing most takes were on the pause. One of the best days I've had at hickory. Heading to Roaring river tommorrow with Hopperdad.

Thanks for the info, went to day and had a good time. Lots of fisherman for such a cold day but I guess that it is a saturday. Fished with jigs from about 1-4 and caught some from the section you fished and even managed a hook jawed 16 inch male that was spewing. How was roaring river, I am thinking of going on monday in spite of the the cold. Thanks again hopper.
Members MarkinKC Posted December 23, 2008 Members Posted December 23, 2008 Does anyone know if the stream has been stocked for the catch and release season?
Hopper Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 It was stocked on the 17th, my dad lives in Neosho and saw it being stocked and called me to let me know. The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.
redbird Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I can definately understand the leach thing working. I wet waded Hickory back in July and found a big fat momma on my ankle. When I pulled her off, out came all the babies. Grossed out my wife real good, my boys thought it was cool. Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.

ollie Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 My neighbor and I fished it this morning and were lucky to catch one between us. Not saying I'm the best the fisherman in the world, but I can for sure tell you I can catch stocked trout. The only place we didn't fish was the area around the ballfields. They were definetly not down by the handicap access on the lower end. We didn't see any fish stacked up anywhere. Maybe they were only stocked up by the ballfields? Yeah they didn't stock down there that I am aware of, in fact I have never caught a fish down there. They stocked most of the pools from the low water bridge up stream. Chief, that couldn't have been me although i wish it was I have been out of town since the 23rd. Hope you had a good trip.
