The upper lake is somewhat wadeable at 40 (or 1 unit). You still generally can't wade out too far or clear across though. And on 1 unit I always do best with heavily weighted flies and/or split shot.

I hope you have a good day. But be careful. Taneycomo on on generator is kind of deceptive. The current is still pretty strong. I've never been swept downstream but I've had a few close calls.

You should do fine. Fish along the banks. Throw san juan worms ( color, worm brown and red with a #4 split shot ). Try micro and standard to see which ones they want. Past the old outlet 3 is wadable in one unit. Very good water in one unit. There's several other patterns you can try, but that's probably the easiest way to hook up fish throughout the day. Scuds and olive woolies will also do the trick.

Another great way to hook alot of fish is throwing zebra midges in the slack water from the outlet 3 to the stairs that go up through the trail, marker 7. Good luck!!

Roaring River is another option. I've been going over there on the weekends and hooking some big bruts. Two weeks ago I hooked into a 14 pound rainbow. Just and option I thought I would throw out there.

Fish down by the boat ramp and past Point Royal. Lots of places to wade fish with one unit on down there. Look for seams in the water behind trees and rocks for midging fish. Also find pockets of still water. Throw crackle backs and soft hackles in these areas.

Does that trail out the parking lot go down to Point Royal? I've never taken it past the KOA area.

Yes it is a long trail though.

You would be better if the water is running to drive down the road in Point Royal. The road belongs to Branson and they cant keep people out. I do know that they were trying to buy the road from Branson so you might check be for you do this.( check with city of Branson PR will tell you they own it) they used to try and keep me out then I found this info out about 3 years ago. I then would park down there when the water is on. If the water is off I will park a top and fish fish my way down.

Just talked to a buddy that owns a condo down at PR and he said that PR bought the road back. So that option is out sorry we are going to have to walk now.

Thanks for the info. I've made the hike several times in the water and in my waders(of coarse) and it takes alot out of a guy. Maybe I will try packing the waders and rod and hike down there first.

Hey what are your hours for the next week? Do you have any special hours for new years?
