I am looking for a better knot for tying florocarbon to Power Pro. I am using back to back uni knots, The floro breaks at the knot rather easly for 15 lb test line. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance

All anglers need to read the results of fluorcarbon testing at tackletour.com.

Their tests have found no knot that connects fluorocarbon to anything which will test at 90% of the line strength.

One of the most difficult is the braid to leader. The problem is the slick, tiny braid has a tendency to slide and cut under pressure while the fluorcarbon hates being crimped.

I use back to back uniknots, but I tie them with the braid doubled back. This next season, based on what I have read, I think I'll try a dot of gel superglue on the knot. The other alternative, I guess, is to learn how to tie a good Albright.

Thanks those articles really opened my eyes. Guess I will go back to good old Trilene.

Learn to tie the Alberto's. It is twice as fast as the Albright and only half as big. It also requires no glue. I have tried every knot I can find and the Alberto's is the quickest and easiest.

If you guys know the nail knot - you could do an Allbright knot, which is essentially a nail knot tied over a loop.

Check it out here : take your pick from the video's below;

I spent far too long on this diagram (in MS Paint, lol), and it still looks like crap...ah well, i will explain and hopefully you will understand.

This is the best knot i have ever used, and extremely fast to tie.

1. Feed the line through the hole. Once it's about 8 inches through, feed it back through from the same side it just came out of.....creating a side A and B

2. Hold the two ends so that the hook centers itself between the two ends, equally.

3. wrap end B underneath end A......(exactly like the first step of tying your shoe laces). Once completed, do NOT tighten all the way yet!

4. This is what it should look like, not tightened all the way yet.

5. Pull end B down over the front of the hook, and all the way to the back side of the hook.

6. Once you have pulled the loop of end B over the hook....simply tighten the knot, by pulling firmly on end A. The hoop in end B, will become smaller and smaller as you pull the knot tighter.

I hope this made some kind of sense to you guys... This is a very strong knot, and saves a lot of time in the boat. It can be tied on in about 10 seconds after becoming used to it.

Does it break on your hook set, or when trying to free a snag? Just wondering because I use 6/14 Fireline W/14-pound fluoro all the time and rarely have break off issues.

I've been using a blood knot with a little dab of super glue. I'll let the glue dry out a little and get kind of gooey then I'll roll it between my fingers to work it in. I haven't had a problem since I started using the super glue.
