catman Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Raush Valley & Tete Jaune Cache area in central BC along the Fraser, great place. Oh yes you can't believe the size of the mosquitoes swarms there, we would run out of the cabin to check the meat on the grill, then ran back the the screened in porch on the cabin around darkthirty...wicked. I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
Members Rodger Robbins Posted January 30, 2009 Members Posted January 30, 2009 I've done a fly in twice through Canoe Canada out of Atikokan, Ontario and plan on going back this summer. We stayed at Pike Lake and portaged to several different lakes in the area. We fished a different lake everyday. They had very good boats and equipment at each lake and we were the only ones using it. It was awesome. I lost track of the number large (3+ lbs.) smallmouth we caught.
Members wildminnow Posted March 19, 2009 Members Posted March 19, 2009 Been to Bluffy lake just out of Ear Falls in Ontario twice, going again this june. Walleye and Pike. Anyone have any good baits or techniques for catching those monster Pike?
Members Troutdude Posted November 22, 2009 Members Posted November 22, 2009 Back in the early 60's I used to accompany some friends to a lake about 250 miles north of toronto (as I recall) Called Lake Wahwashkesh. Crystal clear water and tons of fish-walleyes, smallmouth rock bass and yellow perch not to mention northern pike and lake trout. Good times Wow! Never thought I would run into anyone who knew of Wahwashkesh. I spent several summer vacations there as a kid in the 70's with relatives who owned a cabin on the lake. Wonderful place with great fishing and fond memories. My mother used to fly in on a float plane when she was a kid.
97procraft Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 http://www.manotak.com/ Manotak lodge is a great place. I have been there twice(06 & 07) and I will go back again. The staff is great, the food was wonderful, and the fishing was out of this world. Both years we went in early June, and usually lost track of how many fish we caught by the middle of the 2nd day. It is a 4 hour drive north of International falls MN, all pavement. They have smallmouth, walleye, northern pike, muskie, and perch. Check them out, you will not regret it. Jeff
tippet7 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Bow River in downtown Calgary. Standing there catching +20 inchers while traffic zoomed above me was awesome. Also I was there during the Stampede and that is a sight to behold! You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
dennis boatman Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Iskwasum Lake in Manitoba is by far my favorite. The falls between Iskwasum and Reed Lakes is the best Walleye fishing I have ever experienced. Pike are also there, and BIG pike. I have caught at least 10 over 36" and 2 over 40". A strike indicator is just a bobber...
hillbillyflyshack Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 If you want a great place to catch walleye and northern and not break the bank go to Eagle Falls Lodge in Red Lake,Ontario. The website is eaglefallslodge.com and Travis Mack and his wife are the owners. Not only will they put you on fish but will feed you till you bust. They have a cookie eating camp dog named Cosmo that keeps the bears away. We've been there several times and are going back again next August. Weather and fishing are a little more consistent then and the bugs almost nonexistent. Hope to see some of you up there. Pete
MeatintheFreezer Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Back in the late '80s my family flew out of Ft. Francis, Ontario through Rusty Myers fly in service. I have fished Wabakamanski & Wabakimi lakes and they were both outstanding for Walleye and Northerns. We literally caught fish until we were tired of it each day. Back then the cabins were pretty rustic with no electric or running water. There was a propane cook stove and fridge, some bunks, and a picnic table. Those are some of my best memories. Now, they cabins are fully electric with indoor plumbing. I have not been there since, but I think that some of the nostalgia has been lost by the modernization. I stumbled across this thread because I am researching an outfitter to use in 2015. My dad passed away last week, he always wanted to take one more trip back to Canada but his health never let him do it. I fully intend to take my family there in his memory. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
