bobw Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Does any one know anything about an ECHO Classic fly rod. I have read the info on their web page, but do any of you guy's own one? Looks like I may win the bid on a 9' 4 wt. on ebay. I have been lookin for a 4 wt. rod and this one looks like a good one for the money? $69 is hard to beat for a 4 wt 4 piece with a sock and tube.
timsfly Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The Echo classic rods are very good, retail was 149.00, that rod has been discontinued. But it will still carry a lifetime warranty if it is new. So if you can get it I would, I sold a lot of those rods the past few years, I sold a lot more 8' 4wt than 9' 4wts, but the whole series of the Echo classics cast well. Members Indiana Trout Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 Great rods, especially for the great price! Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. --Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A. bobw Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 It is a new rod. Thanks fo rthe reply, it looks like I got it. I need to find a reel for it now. Thanks for the reply, I feel better about it now.
Members Indiana Trout Posted January 17, 2009 Members Posted January 17, 2009 I've got an Albright Bughatti on my 4wt and an Albright Topwater on my 3wt. Just about any small reel that strikes your fancy will work well! bobw Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 After going thru my fly bag I found a Fly Logic 3-4-5 reel that will be perfect fot it. I forgot I had it, I don't use it much. I had it for a spare out fit on a 5 wt. rod. The rod hasn't made it's way to me yet, figure it will be here tomorrow, I have to go out of town tomorrow. But it will be here when I get back.
dave potts Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I've got the 8 foot in a 4 weight. As Tim said, very nice rod. You got it a a nice price too. Dave
bobw Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Well like I figured, I'm in a motel room in Heber Springs and the rod was delivered to the house today. the wife said it was on the front pourch when she got home from work. Anxious to try it out. If the weather doesn't get too bad and the generation schedule allows, may go to the White River Saturday and give it a work out. $69 for a rod with a life time warrenty is a great deal. I saw some more of them on ebay if anyone else would like to check one out.
bobw Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Got to fish my new Echo Classic on Saturday. Wow what a nice rod, This thing fishes very nice. Glad I was able to get the bid on it. This finishes out my fly rod slection. I now have a rod in 3-4-5-6 weights. And I like them all. I can fish almost any weather or water conditions any where whit the rods I have. If anyone is looking for a great fry rod, there are still some on ebay.
