Danoinark Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Relax Dano. You are getting way to worked up over a reel. I want Hardy, Give me Hardy Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Members warlock Posted January 27, 2009 Author Members Posted January 27, 2009 I'm going with the Hardy. If I don't like it I can always sell it and get the BBS. Thanks for all the input. Warlock
drew03cmc Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Think of it this way. The Orvis has an adjustable drag, while the Hardy's tensioner is a SUPER LIGHT click pawl. Andy
vanven Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Not a big fan of the Orvis reels. The non-sealed drags are gear based. They work great but after a couple dunkings in sandy or silty water I would rather have a sealed drag. I am tough on my equipment though. I would lean towards a Lamson or a Sage 1800 series. As was stated above, swing weight should have a lot to do with the final decision. Both of the reels I listed are a bit heavier. -Jerod
flyfshn Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Bigger and heavier vanven. I would probably buy the Hardy but i just got the Battenkill BBS II and it is a really nice reel (also got a spare reel at no charge) Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. vanven Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The 0 to 3 wt section really gets me out of my comfort range for equipment. I like the fancy stuff and at those sizes and weights a tin can and some fancy line handling skills might work just as well. -Jerod
