Great topic. I mean really good info. I'm not sure people realize how much time, money, and frustration this can save them. Maybe they do. I wish I would of had this information before I made the switch. In my experience vanish is too brittle (and it coils and loops unbearably). After three trips with vanish on my reels I swore off flourocarbon forever. Then I sucombed to the tidal wave of people tauting flouro's greatness and tried it again. This time P-line. Much happier. Recently a really great fisherman told me to try seagaur invizx. The comments about invizx on this post have sealed the deal. I'm going to try it. I would still use P-line, just know when you spool it, its not mono!

I have also been on the Seagar band wagon. I have no complaints. Just always looking for that bargain. Has anyone tried the Seagar Red Label. I sure like the price. I bought some of the new Seagar abrasX but have not yet tried it.

I have used Bass Pro XPS for years and have never heard that it loses 1/2 it's strength after a few weeks. I would have to see the test results on that one.

Gabe,

Sorry I don't remember which site I saw it on, tackletest.com maybe, they tested all of the major brands of fluorocarbon about a year or so ago. XPS was rated highest in inital strength but on the long term testing it was rated one of the lowest. If I remember correctly they tested 8 and 10 lb. test and after the long term test most lost approx 10% of their initial break strength while XPS and Stren lost as much as 40%. If I can find the article again I will post a link.

Thanks Eric. I may need to reevaluate the line I am using.

Maybe... but I always say if it aint broke, don't fix it. If you haven't had any problems with it, then there is no problem. Some of the equipment that I depend on is considered bad by other guys, but it works well for me. Also, I use alot of "obsolete" lures and baits that I catch alot of fish (and nice ones) with on a regular basis.

The point that I am making is-- I hear guys say that some tackle and equipment is crap, when other guys say it is great-- and vice versa. Alot of this stuff is personal preference stuff. If you have confidence in it, then don't let some study or test change your mind on it.

Just my two cents-- an observation of why there are thousands of products out there, and there is a big group of guys for every single product out there that has great confidence in it.

Good luck on the water everyone. It is almost Spring!!! :D
