DoveTail Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Brrr, they are predicting 18* in the morning but at least it will be sunny!
FishinCricket Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Well, I kinda figure that the best time to meet for breakfast would be around 9? That way everyone gets to enjoy the opening, then those of us that want a chance to fish can come back after breakfast? That's my plan, anyway.. Roam and watch and try and get a fly in once or twice til breakfast.. Then come back and see if I can't limit out or scope a big brown down below the spring on the river... quick question though.. The website says the bell goes off at "6:30 central/7:30 daylight central" What the heck does that mean? Are we currently in central or daylight central? Wouldn't it still be 6:30 here? It's 6:30 right? I rarely get there before 8 when I do go (nowadays anyway) so I don't wanna be late.. I actually wanna be quite early so I can walk around and talk with anglers and try and spot some lunkers... I don't have to catch em to enjoy em.. LOL cricket.c21.com
DoveTail Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 On March 1, 2009 the bell will go off at 06:30am. When the time changes in a week after that for Sunday March 8, 2009 the bell will go off at 07:30am. So that's why they print the transition times for those months that we change the clocks.
rcguy Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 If things go OK I'll be down at 9:30 so I can go to Ollies then.. or whatever. You guys decide breakfast, lunch, whatever and the time and I will try to get there. Looks like the weather will not be very warm like I hoped but tolerable. I thought i would try some fishing in the afternoon. Hopefully it clears a little to get a spot.
rcguy Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Cricket and ALL, I still have my little silver Toyota Yaris so you can't miss it. Looks like a silver jelly bean. 3 door hatch back. I have never fished the river but I'm up for anything. May be the best deal to avoid a large crowd.
FishinCricket Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Silver Toyota Yaris Like this one? Here's my ride (I posted a pic of myself in the first post here) I'll prolly be on the rock ledges below the bridge in Zone two watching the boys haul in some lunkers right at the bell, then prolly either around to see you guys fishing or down to zone three to help my neices and nephews bait their hooks. Then it sounds like breakfast at 9 unless anyone has any objections? I am afraid I can't buy, sales have been slow lately.. But I'll pitch in for a big tip for the waitress. Lord knows she'll deserve it.. LOL Any other questions or comments? Anybody else as jazzed as I am ? cricket.c21.com
rcguy Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Yes, that's my car. I may not make til 9:30 to Ollies.
brittsnbirds Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Dilla- I love your little unit!! I would love to pick one up but $$$ is tight. What is the going price on one like yours? Pat
brownieman Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Hey guys, I don't do the park thing but can see where it's alot of fun...good people, good times...probably more a tradition than a serious fishin trip. Just a word of advise, STAY LEGAL!!...I know the opener is a big day for the agents. I have seen some that try to take a limit of fish back to their camp, unload, kill a little time and then do it again...don't do it, just aint worth it. I have seen some guys get popped for up to 40, 50 fish in their coolers on opening day. All the agents will be plain clothed and have a plan for who covers what strech and they talk with each other on what's going on and who's seen what. It's a big pay day for them so don't think for a second they don't take advantage of it. Every park in the state will have as many agents as they can get on hand. They will all meet in the hatchery, plan their attack and then off they go. If you see someone doing more looking around than fishing chances are good it's an agent. The 'Man" will be a watchin so don't let what otherwise will be a good time ruin your trip. Fishin itself costs enouph these days without a big fine to go along with it, ya know. The ones I do wish they would pop are the guys that go down a few days before the opener, spot a few big ones and then grab em by drifting a white jig right in their mouths. They are quite good at it and you'll see their names on the lunker boards year after year...problem is, if it's caught in the mouth like that it's a legal catch...it does require some skill to do it like that but come on...that just aint fishin by any means. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><

Pat Pat, I gave 14K but that is automatic and all you can get on one..which is not much. I think they are a little higher now. good thing is 38.5 mpg driving to the trout stream. Gotta like that. I really like it for a commuter car. I drive 70 miles a day and it has been great. I have a Van for hauling my model airplanes around.
