nwaoutdoorsman Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Anyone been over to swepco lately? I went to Beaver today and caught one black on a wiggle wart all afternoon. I need to find somewhere where I can catch a few and get a fix.
Zack Hoyt Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 SWEPCO has been really slow this winter. I have asked around and no one really knows why. I was over there a few weeks ago and we caught a handful, but not a ton. I did get to land my first Largemouth on a fly rod though. Was fishing a Todd's Wiggle Minnow in the grass near the outlet. I am wanting to head back over there myself and see if it has picked up any. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Quillback Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 There's a good article on SWEPCO in today's NWA Democrat Gazette. The bios have been out electro fishing it, bottom line is there are good numbers of healthy bass in that lake. They are speculating that the reason the fishing has been slow is that there's so much forage in the lake that the well fed bass don't want to get off their fat, lazy butts to chase lures.
