Members hambone80 Posted February 25, 2009 Members Posted February 25, 2009 Well I went fishing tonight at Lake Springfield and caught one largemouth, but it was my biggest one yet! I was using a cheap BPS lipless crank and thought I got snagged for a second, but then I could feel a fish on. Then in the back of my mind I thought it might be a carp that I snagged into. Well it was a largemouth. Plus I was night fishing, so that made it even better. I tried to get a cell phone pic, but it was too dark for that. I did have my tape on me and measured her twice before releasing her. She was 22.5" in length and 16" in girth. What a hog! I wish I had my digital camera with me, but didn't think I would catch a fish like that. Using the bass calculation formula (length x length x girth/1200) it came out to 6.75 lbs. I know there's room for error in that formula, but she was a toad fo sho!
rps Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 well done! With those measurements, the fish was assuredly over 6 and actually closer to 7. Most guys would "round" to 7.

Chief Grey Bear Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Great fish! I take if from your post she is still swimming? I thought though that it was L X G X G divided by 800? If that is correct, then your fish could be 7.2 lbs.!!!!!
