Members BFC Posted February 26, 2009 Members Posted February 26, 2009 Put in at viola wed, started on chanel swings stop and go with wiggle warts all fish hit the bait on the pause. Caught about 10-12 no keepers. Switched over to a jig had a 4lb brownie way up kings, I was suprised will all the boat around me fishing for crappie and white bass. Jig was the ticket in the chanel 13- 20ft deep working the bait slow, fish hit the jig hard. Ended up with 6 keepers caught over 20 on the jig, great day
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 26, 2009 Root Admin Posted February 26, 2009 Did you see anyone catching whites or crappie. If so, how far up? Did you get a water temp? Thanks for the report.
Members BFC Posted February 27, 2009 Author Members Posted February 27, 2009 Seen two small crappie caught all day around deer bluff , water warmed up to 51.3 when I left at 4:30 47.5 at 8am when I put in.
rangerman Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Kings river seemed kind of slow as far as white bass and crappie go, James river near Canes Bottom is another story, 2 limits of white bass over the past 2 days with a good number thrown back. There was a few crappie up the James, but with the white bass hitting like that, I just as soon catch them. They were suspended in about 6 foot of water. white 1/16th ounce jigs were the trick. Love catching the whites!
