Members Bobby M.
This disscussion about the huge bass from Cali has got me thinking. I have heard several guys on this site talking about the giant bass that come out of taneycomo. You know these huge bass are probably feeding on the stocked rainbows. so my question is, has anyone ever tried throwing a large trout imitator to try and catch some these bass? Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 28, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted March 28, 2006 It's very possible bass on lower Taney are feeding on trout but there is a huge supply of shad down there too but I'm not sure if they do... I'm sure there's big browns down there and they would definately feed on trout. So throwing a rainbow lure could get you a big brown or big bass. They both live in basically the same environments. Members Bobby M.
phil, based on your experience with catching trout, what size trout are most common and what would be the best sized trout imitator to throw at these big fish. Micheal Kyle
When I fish for bass I like the Smithwick Rogue the 110mm (5.5"). I have caught some real nice Bass in the lower lake, the great thing with the Rogue is that the big browns also like them. I have a couple that Tim Hughes custom painted for me that are the color of a rainbow and they work great. I have serveral more that Tim has painted for me in various shad colors and they work great. Just rememeber they are bass and they love bait fish. Good luck. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
ryan
hey I have been thinking the same thing about those large bass I know people say they have caught some ten pound fish out of there so that has really peaked my intrest. Castica makes some awsome swim baits in rainbow trout color 6-9 inches and up and I can assure you a big brown would also smash one of those. I have been planning on trying it as the weather continues to warm and I get some time off from school and work, well best of luck
Members DRUNKFISHIN
Rainbow trout colored fluke's seem to work well down by empire park. I have cought 10-12 in trout and when reeling them in a 5 lb bass grabbed them. This happend a few times.
